PRIMEROSE HILL – A teen thug who stabbed a 16-year-old boy to death on New Year’s Eve on London’s Primrose Hill has been convicted of murder.
Areece Lloyd-Hall, 18, was found guilty today, Wednesday, October 29, at the Old Bailey of murdering Harry Pittman, who was celebrating with friends when his life was tragically cut short.
Lloyd-Hall, of Westminster, was brought to justice after police linked DNA found at the scene to the killer.
Fatal Bump
The court heard that Harry and his friends were enjoying the fireworks display just before midnight on December 31, 2023, when the horrific attack took place.
At around 11:40 pm, an altercation broke out after Harry accidentally bumped into a member of Lloyd-Hall’s group—a group of complete strangers.
This led to a heated exchange and a fight, culminating in Lloyd-Hall stabbing Harry once in the neck.
The teenage victim bravely made his way towards police officers policing the event, who immediately gave first aid. However, despite the best efforts of emergency services, Harry died at the scene shortly before midnight.
Lloyd-Hall immediately fled the park alone with the knife, which was never recovered.
He later met up with his friends.
During a search of the scene, detectives found a knife sheath.
Forensic analysis sensationally uncovered Arrece Lloyd-Hall’s DNA on the sheath, directly linking him to the brutal crime.
Investigators also gathered crucial footage of the attack and the moments leading up to the stabbing from eyewitnesses. Following a media appeal, Lloyd-Hall voluntarily attended Hammersmith police station on January 4, 2024, and was arrested.
The killer admitted being present but denied any involvement in the killing.
He was charged two days later.
Family Tragedy
Detective Inspector Daniel Catmull, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, expressed his sorrow for the victim’s family.
”Harry was only 16-years-old when he was stabbed,” DI Catmull said. “He had spent the evening with friends enjoying the fireworks before an altercation with a complete stranger led to him tragically losing his life.”
”A new year is meant to offer new beginnings… but sadly, Harry’s family will now be marking this event by remembering how he was taken from them,” he added.
DI Catmull issued another stark warning about knife crime: “Once again, we have seen what carrying a knife can do. There is no excuse for anyone to leave home with a weapon.”
The detective also thanked the “resilience” of the eyewitnesses who came forward to support the investigation, noting the “tragic loss of such a bright and promising young life.”
Lloyd-Hall will be sentenced at a later date.
