ADO EKITI, Nigeria – Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele has hailed defection of members of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in the National Assembly to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), the Advanced Democratic Congress(ADC) and the Coalition of United Political Party(CUUP).
In the House of Representatives, 36 people defected from the APC, 32 to PDP and 4 others to CUUP and ADC. In the Senate, 15 senators defected from the APC to the PDP, all these taking place thesame day.
Earlier, the Nigerian Police Force and DSS had blocked entrance to the home of President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and that of the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki to prevent them from attending the plenary where the defection would be discussed and perhaps forceable remove them from office.
But Saraki outsmarted the security forces and stormed the red chamber in a rickety car, different from his official vehicles. His deputy, Ekweremadu was not that lucky as he was held hostage by the security forces until the end of plenary.
Saraki presided alone without his deputy and read letter of defection and adjourned till September.
Reacting to the development, Fayose hailed the lawmakers for their boldness in leaving the APC, stressing that the development was an impending dawn of a new era in Nigeria.
“I see an impending defeat of tyranny”, he tweeted, and wished those still on the side of the President goodluck.
“@GovAyoFayose: I see an impending dawn of a new era in Nigeria. I see an impending defeat of tyranny. God bless those patriotic NASS members, especially the Senate President. To those of you still supporting this tyranny, I wish you luck”, he said.
