TOTTENHAM – Matthijs de Ligt ripped the script out of Tottenham’s hands earlier today with a thunderous 96th-minute equaliser, denying the hosts a famous comeback win in a Premier League barnburner at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium that ended 2-2.

What started as a cagey affair exploded into pure, unadulterated chaos in the final ten minutes, with three goals, three substitutions, and one incredible fightback from a ten-man Manchester United side.

United looked comfortable for much of the afternoon after Player of the Month Bryan Mbeumo headed home an Amad Diallo cross in the 32nd minute, haunting his former boss Thomas Frank and giving the Red Devils a well-deserved 1-0 lead.

Spurs, who were booed off at half-time, finally found their fire after boss Frank rolled the dice with a triple substitution. The move paid off handsomely when super-sub Mathys Tel spun on a low cross to fire home the equaliser in the 84th minute.

But the real drama was saved for stoppage time.
Just moments after United were cruelly reduced to ten men (after Benjamin Sesko limped off having used all their subs), the clock struck 91.

A powerful shot from Wilson Odobert deflected off a lurking Richarlison, sending the ball past Senne Lammens and giving Spurs a 2-1 lead.

The Brazilian striker was engulfed in emotion, visibly shedding tears of joy as the home crowd erupted, believing they had finally secured a statement win.

But the final twist of the knife belonged to the visitors. With the clock ticking deep into the final seconds, United won a corner. Bruno Fernandes floated a precise ball to the far post where centre-back Matthijs de Ligt rose like a salmon to crash a powerful header past Guglielmo Vicario, silencing the roaring north London faithful.

The 2-2 result leaves both sides locked on 18 points, with Spurs clinging to third place ahead of United in seventh on goal difference, proving that in the Premier League, it ain’t over till the 96th minute.

FRANK FUMES: “To be 2-1 up against ten men and concede a goal like that… it’s just criminal. We’ve thrown away two points that were rightly ours.”

AMORIM RAVES: “That is the heart of Manchester United. We were down, but we never quit. De Ligt is a warrior. A point is a fair result for the character we showed.”
