ABEOKUTA, Ogun, Nigeria – Governor of Ogun State, Mr. Dapo Abiodun has demoted all the 75 obas promoted by former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
Dapo Abiodun had set up a committee, led by Oba Kehinde Olugbenle of Yewaland to review their elevation shortly after he was sworn into office as governor. The committee we gathered recommended demotion of the chiefs who were elevated to Oba by Amosun
At the meeting of the Ogun State Executive Council on Thursday, the matter was tabled and it was agreed that the 75 obas be demoted to their former status as chiefs
Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, in a statement revealed that the chiefs were demoted in consonance with the legal notice number three of 2019.
“The Council approved the revocation of the appointments of 75 chiefs as Coronet Obas in Legal notice number three of 2019.”
