LONDON, UK – Two vicious knife thugs who murdered a young man in Dagenham and severely injured another in a terrifying pre-planned ambush face life in prison after being nailed by CCTV evidence.
Frankie Burletson, 25, and Swayf Amana, 27, were yesterday found GUILTY of the murder of Haseeb Bhatti, 23, in Dagenham, east London.
Haseeb was with friends in Rothwell Gardens in the early hours of Saturday, April 20, when a Mercedes carrying five armed men pulled up and launched a brutal attack.
Police rushed to the scene at around 1.30 am after reports of a stabbing and initially found a 50-year-old man with stab wounds, who was rushed to hospital and later discharged.
Tragically, just moments later, officers found Haseeb nearby in Flamstead Road.
Despite the desperate efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.
Following the convictions at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Haseeb’s heartbroken family released a devastating statement.
They said: “Our son was our world, and losing Haseeb has broken us completely. The pain is with us every moment of every day.”
The family added that those responsible have “shown no remorse for what they have done” and are “praying that justice will be served for our beautiful boy.”
An extensive Met Police investigation saw detectives piece together the thugs’ movements using mobile phone records, numberplate recognition and HUNDREDS of hours of CCTV.
This evidence allowed detectives to link Burletson, of Arden Crescent, and Amana, of Brittain Road, to the sickening crime scene.
Cops also found evidence of pre-planning, including the purchase of balaclavas and gloves before the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Carberry, who led the probe, blasted the convicted killers.
She said the actions of Burletson and Amana were part of a “coordinated, vicious attack” whose sole purpose was “to cause harm to the victim group.”
”Their lives will never be the same,” DCI Carberry said of Haseeb’s family.
A third man, Haiden Khalik-Noor, 19, of Bentry Road, Dagenham, was found not guilty of the same charges.
Burletson, who was arrested days after the murder, and Amana, who was arrested in May, will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday.
