Grand Jury lets Texas father walk free after ‘accidental’ killing of Boohoo buyer, 23

By SCM REPORTER

A BRITISH fashion buyer was shot dead by her father in Texas after a “big argument” over Donald Trump, an inquest has heard.

Lucy Harrison, 23, was visiting her father, Kris Harrison, at his home in Prosper, near Dallas, when she was killed by a single gunshot wound to the chest just hours before she was due to fly home to the UK.

Despite the tragedy occurring on January 10, 2025, it can now be revealed that a Texas Grand Jury has decided NOT to prosecute the father, ruling the shooting an accident.
‘Distressing’ Final Row

The Cheshire Coroner’s Court heard harrowing testimony from Lucy’s boyfriend, Sam Littler, who had traveled with her from Warrington for the holiday.

He described how tensions flared over the breakfast table as Lucy and her father clashed over then-President-elect Donald Trump’s views on women and gun ownership.

During the heated exchange, Lucy reportedly asked her father:

”How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?”

To her horror, her father allegedly replied that because he had two other daughters living with him, it “would not upset him that much.” A distraught Lucy fled upstairs in tears.

Just 30 minutes before the couple were set to leave for the airport, Mr. Harrison took his daughter by the hand and led her into a ground-floor bedroom. Moments later, a “loud bang” echoed through the house.

Mr. Littler told the court: “I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor… Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense.”

In a statement provided to the court, the father admitted he had:
Relapsed on alcohol that day, consuming 500ml of wine.

Retrieved a Glock 9mm handgun to show Lucy while they watched a news report on gun crime.

Claimed the weapon “suddenly” discharged as he lifted it.

Despite the fatal outcome and the father’s admission of drinking, authorities in Collin County, Texas, declined to pursue manslaughter or negligent homicide charges.

The Grand Jury returned a “no-bill,” effectively closing the criminal case in the US.

However, back in the UK, a coroner has since ruled that Lucy was unlawfully killed, highlighting the stark divide between British and American justice.

Lucy Harrison was a successful fashion buyer for the Manchester-based brand Boohoo.

Her mother, Jane Coates, described her as a “real force of life” who was passionate about social issues and never afraid of a bold conversation.

The tragedy occurred just ten days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration, a period of intense political polarization that family members say fueled the fatal friction between the father and daughter.
