YOLA – The Adamawa State Government has relaxed the 6am to 6pm curfew imposed on the state following widespread looting of warehouses and shops by hungry people looking for food.
Announcing the development, the Deputy Governor of the state, Professor George Farauta said the decision was taken following improvement in the situation in the state.
“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have taken the decision to ease the 24-hour curfew imposed across all 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa State.
“The curfew has been reviewed from 6pm to 6am and will be hourly reviewed. Increased security presence will ensure compliance and maintain peace. Let’s continue working together for a peaceful Adamawa State!”, Fintiri said.
He assured the public that this decision was made after thorough security assessments and that the state is committed to ensuring safety of lives and property throughout this period.
“Let us all work together to build a peaceful and secure community”, Professor George Farauta said, standing in for Fintiri.
He said security operatives will intensify patrol in all the local governments and that they will not hesitate to deal with anybody breaching public peace.
“I appeal to citizens to be law abiding”, she said, adding that the curfew will be reviewed as things improve. We expect the people of Adamawa to go about their normal duties”, he said.
