  • President Nicholas Maduro of Venezuela in handcuffs

By our foreign desk

WASHINGTON – DONALD TRUMP has pulled off the most audacious military sting in modern history after US Special Forces swooped into Venezuela to bag dictator Nicolás Maduro in a lightning pre-dawn raid.

The tyrant, who has spent years thumbing his nose at Washington, is currently being flown to the United States in chains to face justice for narco-terrorism and drug trafficking.

The Sun can reveal the inside story of a mission so precise it makes the bin Laden raid look like a rehearsal.

The operation was the climax of months of “cloak and dagger” intelligence gathering by the CIA. Spies managed to flip a high-ranking member of Maduro’s inner circle, providing the exact GPS coordinates for the dictator’s bed every night. While Maduro blustered on state television, US naval and air assets were quietly “parking” in the Caribbean, waiting for the signal to strike.

The mission was reportedly delayed for several days due to poor weather, but the final greenlight was given by President Trump the moment the skies cleared.

It began with a “blackout” strike; decoy units blinded Venezuelan radar and scrambled the regime’s communications, leaving the palace guard shouting into dead radios.

As the city slept, elite US Special Forces fast-roped directly into Maduro’s private compound. Realising the game was up, the dictator reportedly attempted a frantic “rat run” escape, but he was intercepted by commandos within hours.

He was bundled into a helicopter, whisked to a US Navy vessel, and is now at 30,000 feet heading for a high-security American cell.

Maduro’s downfall has been a long time coming.

The US Department of Justice has long alleged that he led the “Cartel of the Suns,” a drug-running ring that flooded American streets with cocaine while his own people starved.

Under his disastrous socialist rule, Venezuela—once the richest nation in South America—collapsed into hyperinflation and chaos, sparking a global migrant crisis.

Washington had previously placed a $15 million bounty on his head, but few believed he would be taken alive from his fortress in Caracas.

This wasn’t a lucky break or an improvisation; it was a cold, calculated, and patient execution of American power that has left the world’s remaining despots looking over their shoulders.
