August 18, 2015 – Not less than 200 hundred persons have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State crime fighting outfit, Rapid Response Squad(RRS) as part of effort to reduce crime rate in Lagos.
Most of those arrested were picked in Oshodi. Commander, Rapid Response Squad
(RRS), Mr Olatunji Disu disclosed while speaking to reporters in Lagos.
Disu, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police said arrest of the culprits
became necessary to prevent Oshodi from returning to what it used to be before
it was reorganised.
He added that the arrests were carried out based on disturbing security reports
about activities of miscreants in the axis which prompted the Commissioner of
Police- Mr Fatai Owoseni and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to direct that sanity
be restored to the area.
He said that 23juveniles arrested during the raid have been handed over to the
Ministry of Women Affairs
“Oshodi as it is at the moment is giving us a little bit of problem; the Commissioner
of Police and the Governor have directed that we do everything possible to bring
sanity to the area, as I speak over 200 people have been arrested in Oshodi, at a
particular time we were able to remove about 23 juveniles from there and the
juveniles gave us a lot of concern for having such young people being involved in
criminality, fortunately, the women affairs ministry of the had shown interest in
the those children and they have been handed over to them,” the RRS Commander
stressed.
