IKOYI, Lagos, Nigeria – A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has granted an order for final forfeiture of N28 million, houses and lands belonging to a former director in Lagos Public Works Corporation, (PWC) Mr. Alade Anifowoshe to the Lagos State Government.

Justice Rilwan Aikawa ordered the forfeiture in his judgement following allegation that the civil servant corruptly enriched himself by acquiring the properties while he held sway as Director of Public Works Corporation.

At the last adjourned date, both the federal and Lagos state governments had laid claim to the properties, but counsel to the state, Mr. Saheed Quadri had argued that the said sum and properties belongs to the Lagos State Government and should consequently be forfeited to the state.

While giving the order of final forfeiture, the judge also ruled that the federal government should take such administrative steps to ensure that the funds and properties are transmitted to the Lagos State government in view of the evidence before the court.
