PORT HARCOURT, River, Nigeria – A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday restrained the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki from participating in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) primary scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2020.
In the suit filed by Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide –Ihama, (Plaintiff) PDP member representing Oredo Federal Constituency before Justice E. A Obile listed Prince Uche Secondus, Emmanuel Ogidi, Hon Kingsley Chinda, Chief Debekeme Boyleyefa, Sen James Manager, Hon. Ajibola Muraina, Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and INEC as defendants.
In the suit, the plaintiff sought an order restraining 1-7 defendants from allowing the 8th defendant(Godwin Obaseki) or any other member or non-member other than those that have purchased forms and screened within the time slated in the said timetable to contest the 7th defendants(PDP) primary election rescheduled to hold June 25th for the purpose of nominating or electing its candidate for the year 2020 governorship election in Edo State pending hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.
The plaintiff also sought an order restraining the 9th defendant(INEC) from further recognizing the 8th defendant(Godwin Obaseki).
“And the court having carefully gone through the applications and granted same this 22nd day of June 2020”, Justice E. A Obile ruled.
