IVORY COAST – There are reports that President Alassane Quattara of Cote d’Ivoire has become the latest victim of military coup now sweeping across West Africa.
The streets is now live with residents who have poured out happy and jubilating about the exit of President Quattara, whose whereabouts remains unknown.
According to report, the attempted coup began May 19, escalating with violent clashes on May 20, and raise questions about the whereabouts of President Alassane Ouattara.
There are conflicting claims, with some reports stating he may have been kidnapped, killed, or fled.
However, there are no official confirmation of a coup but the situation remains volatile and unclear.
Ivory Coast has a history of political instability and conflict, including a coup in 1999 and civil wars. The country has generally experienced political stability since President Ouattara took office in 2011, though concerns about his leadership and upcoming elections in 2025 have been present.
