Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) and the Southern Africa Music Rights Organization (SAMRO), have signed an agreement to share database of musical works to enable both organisations keep a tab of music inventory to ease payment of royalties to musicians.
The agreement was signed in Lagos, when chief executive officer of the South African collective management organisation, Mr Sipho Dlamini visited COSON office in Opebi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman, COSON, Chief Tony Okoroji, said that the deal will bring about more returns in terms of royalties for musicians in the sub -region.
The discussions in Lagos were joined via teleconferencing by the CEO of Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), Mr Maurice Okoth whose organization has also pledged to work with SAMRO and COSON on the agreed project, Okoroji said.

Dlamini was full of praise for the progress made by COSON in so short a time and thanked Chief Okoroji for the warm reception he had received in Nigeria.

Present at the meeting with Mr Dlamini was COSON General Manager, Mr Chinedu Chukwuji who had just returned from a week long working visit to South Africa and Malawi. Also present was COSON Board member, Mrs Azeezat Allen.
