ABUJA, Nigeria – Hajiya Hadiza Shehu Shagari, the wife of former President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari is dead. She died of Coronavirus at the Gwagwalada Isolation Centre, where she was receiving treatment. She was 80 years old.
“We a regret to announce the demise of our beloved mother Hajiya Hadiza Shehu Shagari, the wife of H.E, late President Shehu Usman Shagari GCFR (Turakin Sokoto).
“We lost her in the early hours of today, 12th of August 2021 at about 3.00am, after battling COVID-19 at the Gwagwalada Isolation Centre in Abuja”, Sarkin Mafaran Shagari, Muhammad Bala Shagari said in a statement.
In a statement announcing her demise, Sarkin Mafaran Shagari, Muhammad Bala Shagari said she died in the early hours of today at about 3am, Thursday, August 12, 2021 after battling with Coronavirus at the Gwagwalada Isolation Centre in Abuja.
He said her funeral rites will take place today at 4pm immediately after prayers at the National Mosque in Abuja.
