A FORMER Metropolitan Police Special Constable who led a twisted double life has been hauled behind bars for 24 years today after being unmasked as a child rapist.
Gwyn Samuels, 41—who served under the name James Bubb—was told by a judge they will spend decades in a cell for a “despicable” campaign of sexual violence spanning six years.
The volunteer cop, who patrolled the streets of London’s West End, was found guilty of a string of horror offences including the rape of a child under 13 and the rape of a second victim.
The Transformation
Since the sickening crimes took place, Bubb has changed their name to Gwyn Samuels and now self-identifies as a transgender woman.
The court heard that the abuse occurred between January 2018 and April 2024, taking place across London and Buckinghamshire. Chillingly, Bubb joined the Met as a volunteer in September 2020—meaning the predator was “policing” the public while actively carrying out a secret life of abuse.
The Charges
Following a trial at Amersham Law Courts, Bubb was convicted of:
Rape of a child under 13
Assault of a child by penetration
Sexual activity with a child
Rape of a second adult victim
’Utterly Despicable’
The Met confirmed today that Bubb was booted out of the force without notice and placed on the national barred list.
Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Stancombe blasted the former volunteer, saying: “Bubb’s actions were utterly despicable. I commend the victim-survivors for their courage in coming forward.
”The Met is committed to ensuring those who demonstrate this type of appalling behaviour have no place in our organisation.”
Bubb was hit with a life-long Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to serve a further eight years on licence following their release from prison.
