EUROPEAN bigwigs have hailed Norway as the continent’s “best friend” in a defiant show of unity against Russian aggression.
EU President António Costa touched down in a freezing, sun-drenched Oslo today to slap Moscow down and bolster the “bedrock” alliance between the EU and its northern neighbors.
Standing alongside Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre, Costa didn’t mince words about the “challenging times” facing the West.
He praised the Norwegians for stepping up to the plate as the most reliable partners in the fight to keep Europe’s lights on and its borders safe.
With Vlad the Impaler ramping up military build-ups and “hybrid threats” in the freezing Arctic, Costa warned that the EU is stepping up its game to protect the region.
”Norway is not only one of our most like-minded partners but an integral member of the European family,” Costa declared. “Especially in challenging times, friends must stand together.”
The President highlighted Norway’s “indispensable” role in:
Bashing the Kremlin: Providing vital military and financial kit to Ukraine.
Keeping us Warm: Saving Europe from its addiction to Russian oil and gas.
Saving Lives: Taking in hundreds of wounded Ukrainian heroes for life-saving treatment in Oslo hospitals.
The two leaders also discussed a “Security and Defence Partnership” that brings the EU and Norway closer than ever before.
Costa is set to visit the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment later today to see first-hand the tech that will help defend the North.
The message to the Kremlin was clear: The Single Market is becoming “One Market,” and it’s a fortress that won’t be easily shaken by 6external pressure.
“In a world where multilateralism is under threat, this bond is more important than ever,” Costa added.
