Level headed actress, Clarion Chukwura on Saturday made Nigeria proud by emerging Best Actress in Leading role at the 2014 Africa Movie Academy Award held in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State. She won the award with her role in the film, Apaye. She defeated the likes of Uche Nnadili, Linda Sokhulu, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha, Joselyn Dumas, Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda and Daniella Okeke .

Another Nigerian actress, Patience Ozokwor won Best Actress in a Supporting Role with the film, After the Proposal.

Nigeria also clinched Best Documentary with the film Portraits of a Lone Farmer, Best Film In African Language with the film B For Boy, Achievement In Soundtrack by Onye Ozi, Achievement In Visual Effect , with A Mile From Home and Award For the Best Nigerian Film while Bob Manuel Udokwu received AMAA Special Jury honour.

Speaking at the ceremony, Founder AMAA, Mrs. Peace Anyiam Osigwe used the occasion to pay her last respect to the icon of filmmaking in Nigeria, Amaka Igwe . According to her, after 10 years, AMAA has become the platform that projects the African film industry to Africa and the rest of the world.

“This is a celebration of African heritage and culture, and reaching our tenth anniversary is without doubt a testimony to resilience of human spirit and determination,” she said.
