October 6, 2015 – The Contractor handling the construction of Ago Palace way, Okota, Lagos State, Messrs China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) has given assurance that the 3.05km road project would be completed by December, 2015.

The General Manager in charge of South West operation, CCECC, Engr. Li Bing made the pledge while briefing  Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ajibade Bade-Adebowale about state of work so far.

He explained that the main issues stalling the project such as uncooperative attitude of landlords, the weather and funding which had hitherto stalled the project have been resolved, adding that with the return to site of the company the project will be delivered within the next three months.

Also speaking at the meeting, Engr. Ajibade Bade-Adebowale assured that the project will be completed as scheduled since the contractor is back on site and workers of the company can be seen on the road excavating and filling up the potholes.

While urging the landlords to take ownership of the project and cooperate with the government to facilitate quick completion, the Permanent Secretary called on residents to avoid dumping waste in the drains as they hinder free flow of waste water which ultimately destroy the roads.

Engr. Bade-Adebowale also gave assurance that alternative roads will be provided to ensure that the difficulties that would be encountered by commuters are eased while the construction last.

It will be recalled that the project was conceived as a link between Isolo axis and the Apapa -Oshodi Expressway and Lagos Badagry Expressway by the Lagos State Government.

Currently the project has attained 45 per cent completion with significant works done on all the drainage/culvert and New Jersey barrier works. Also work is at advance stage on relocation of services, soil stabilization, and provision of crush stone before the laying of 80mm interlocking paving stone on a segment of the road.
