OGUTA, Imo, Nigeria – The Archdiocese Catholic Secretariat in Owerri, Imo State has announced the kidnap of one of priests in the parish, Rev. Father John Ubaechu.
In a statement, Archdiocesan Chancellor/Secretary, Rev. Father Patrick C. Mbarah said the priest was kidnapped on Sunday evening March 23, 2025.
In the letter, the church said the priest was kidnapped at Ejemekwuru Road at Oguta Local Government Area in Imo State on his way to the Priests Annual Retreat.
Mbarah invites all followers of Christ, men and women of goodwill to pray for the safe return of the priest.
“We commend our brother, Rev. Father John Ubaechu to the powerful intersession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of priests, for his speedy release from the hands of his abductors”.
