World Athletics today announced it was substantially increasing the prize money for athletes at its flagship world championships, starting with the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 next year.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced the death of IOC Honorary Member Fernando F. Lima Bello. He was 89 years old. Mr Lima Bello was a world champion sailor (Snipe) in 1953 and competed at two Olympic Games, Mexico City 1968 and Munich 1972 (Dragon).

Olympic champion Thomas Bach has been re-elected for an additional four-year term as President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  He was elected at the 137th IOC Session held virtually earlier today. The 67-year-old German received 93 yes and 1 no votes from the 94 valid votes.
