SANDRINGHAM , England – Queen Elizabeth II today issued long awaited letter to mark her 70th anniversary on the throne, stressing that in the fullness of time when her son Prince Charles becomes the king, his wife Camilla will be known as Queen of Consort to continue her own royal service.

“I know you will give him and his wife the same support you gave me and it is my sincere wish  that when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service”, she said.

In the letter marking her 70th anniversary on the thrown, the queen said the anniversary affords her  time to reflect on the goodwill shown to her and her nationalities over the years  in England and around the world.

“I would like to express  my thanks to you all for your support.  I remain eternally grateful for and humbled  by the loyalty and affection that you continue to give to me”, she said.

She also said she is fortunate to have had the loving support of her family.

“I was blessed that in Prince Phillip, I had a  partner, willing to carryout the role of consort and unselfishly make the  sacrifices that go with it. It is a role I saw my own mother perform during my father’s reign”, she said.
