But it was not just fun. Some also took advantage of the huge turnout of spectators to make some money, selling face masks and other carnival items to willing buyers.
The event kicked-off with children carnival, with students from the various secondary schools in the state featured in parades showcasing their skills, energy and attires artistically designed in imitation of some of the beautiful creatures on earth such as peacock, Ostrich and animals of various kinds.
The children procession was heralded with a parade of a mobile sculpture of former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It is quite a beautiful art work, though not a true representation of the former governor.
Some of the schools that took part in the carnival include Magbon Alade Senior Grammar School, Itolo girls Secondary school, Odumola Secondary school, Epe Seniour Secondary School and TinCan Island Juniour High School. Wife of the Lagos State Governor Abimbola Fashola however lifted the spirit of partaking students when she joined one of the groups in the parade.
The highlight of the children carnival was the emergence of the carnival queen in her chariot to the delight of spectators. A very lovely lady which took her time to acknowledge cheers from those gathered for the event.
It was followed by the adult procession organized in various colours, blue, yellow and other colours.
It was an event characterized with fun and many surprises, with one of the groups parading a goat interviewed by one of those in the parade in a mock display of a reporter attempting to get the honest viewpoint of the goat about proceeding so far.
