LAGOS, Nigeria -Public speaker and member of Citizens’ Rally against Oppression (RAMINBA), Mr. Dele Farotimi has said that the principal of federal character enshrined in the Nigerian constitution  suggest that an Igboman should be the next President of Nigeria.

Farotimi is the second prominent Yoruba son that is speaking in favour of Igbo presidency, which is being led by the Afenifere chieftain, PA Ayo Adebanjo.

Farotimi who was speaking on Arise TV said that he should be supporting Yale Sowore but for the principal of Federal Charactger enshrined in the Nigerian constitution, which now rightly places the Presidency at the doorsteps of an Igboman;  stressing that for this reason, he will be pitching his support for candidate of the Labour Part, Mr. Peter Obi.

He said hopelessness in the land led to the #endSARS protest across Nigeria and that the only person that has been able to galvanized the Nigerian youths with a sense of hope after the endSARS protest is Peter Obi, stressing that he will be supporting Mr. Peter Obi.

Mr. Farotimi said that the Muhammadu Buhari regime has sapped away the energy in the Nigerian youths and that the only person that has energized the youths has been Peter Obi, stressing that to take that hope away from the youths, by not making it happen through stolen votes is to ask for violence.

He called on Nigerians to look beyond tribal sentiments, stressing that the reward those who chanted SAI baba in Katsina gained from the fact that Buhari is from Katsina State and the eight year rule of Buhari is nothing but misery, poverty and insecurity.

“It has given them misery, insecurity and poverty.  I want Nigerian to look beyond tribal sentiments and look for the person with the capacity to deliver”, he advised.

Mr. Farotimi who is a lawyer condemned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) for not inviting  Yele Sowore  during the NBA conference while they extended invitation to candidate of the AD. He said he would have allowed it if the invitation has been limited to the three main candidates but that it is not right to leave out Sowore when same invitation was extended to AD.

He also condemned the NBA for its inability to interrogate  promises made by the candidates and not being able to guide Nigerians as they approach the 2023 general elections.

He also condemned consultation by political gladiators in London adding that the consultation was for their selfish interest not for the interest of Nigerians as they have said.

He said those in have already started apportioning tenure and who gets what among themselves, not withstanding Nigerians whose votes will determine their fate.
