PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – A buldozer this morning commenced pulling down the structure of the River State House of Assembly.
The buldozer commenced the demolition exercise less than 42 hours after a River State High Court confirmed Hon. Edison Ehie as Speaker of the house, after defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Justice M.W.Danagogo restrained Martin Amaewhule and Dumle Maol from Parading themselves nor interfering with the activities of Rt. Hon. Edison Ogerenye Ehie as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The Presiding Judge in an Experte motion warned against the use of thugs and police officers to forcefully gain access to the premises of Rivers State House of Assembly Complex
So far, no reason has been advanced for the demolition. But starconnectmedia.com recalls that the assembly complex was bombed, with a section razed by fire few weeks ago.
