You ought to be above this, Buhari replies lawmakers
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari received the shocker of his life during his 2019 budget presentation to a joint section of the National Assembly, heckled several times.
Even prior to his arrival, shouts freedom come, the struggle, the struggle, freedom come rented the air but shouts of Sai Baba subsumed shouts of freedom immediately he stepped into the house.
It was as though that President Muhammadu Buhari will have a smooth ride in his presentation. But as he started itemising his achievements, which he termed commissioned/completed projects, shouts of Ooh , lie lie, propaganda and it is not correct, hate speech shook the assembly complex repeatedly.
He was booed severally, with the President telling them “you ought to be above this”. The president said about 90 projects are either completed or commissioned across the federation.
He mentioned Second Niger Bridge and other projects in the South South, but his voice was subsumed with lie, not true, it is not correct. He equally said he his administration has succeeded in tackling corruption, since the economy recovered from recession to which members booed him, reminding him of the grasscutter incident, with shouts of No, real lie.
But he was not only booed, he was also applauded during his elaborate speech.
