ABUJA, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday, December 10, 2020 address a joint session of the National Assembly. This development was made known by the Presidency via its official twitter handle.
“President @MBuhari will address a Joint Session of the National Assembly on Thursday December 10, 2020”, the Presidency said.
Although the Presidency did not give a hint of what the president will be speaking about, but we gathered that it may not be unconnected with the security situation in the country which appeared to have overwhelmed the present government.
Just last week over 43 Rice Farmers were beheaded in their farms and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Mr. Garba Shehu reacted by saying that the farmers failed to get clearance from the military authority before going to the farm.
His utterance led to condemnation by the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and other stakeholders, notably, the Northern Elders Forum which has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign if he cannot protect Nigerians.
However as the President addresses the joint session, Nigerian want him to speak on insecurity in the country which is now at its lowest ebb, the economy in recession for the second time in 5 years, the power situation in the country which is now comatose , unprecedented job losses, hike in electricity tariff, fuel and others which have fueled inflation in the country.
