By Our Man at Stamford Bridge

MANCHESTER CITY turned the Premier League title race into a total blowout yesterday, dismantling a fragile Chelsea 3-0 in a second-half masterclass that left the Stamford Bridge faithful heading for the exits early.

While Arsenal were busy slipping up against Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola’s relentless machine didn’t just knock on the door—they kicked it down. In a devastating 17-minute whirlwind, City reminded the world why they remain the gold standard of English football.

The star of the show wasn’t one of the usual suspects, but the mercurial Rayan Cherki. Wearing the No. 10 shirt with a swagger that bordered on the illegal, the Frenchman was the architect of Chelsea’s downfall. He spent the first half probing, but in the second, he sliced the Blues open like a Thanksgiving turkey.

It was Cherki’s pinpoint cross in the 51st minute that found Nico O’Reilly, who bullied Andrey Santos to head home the opener. Six minutes later, Cherki was at it again, dancing through the box before teeing up former Chelsea man Marc Guehi. The defender finished with the composure of a seasoned striker, refusing to celebrate against his old club, though the damage was already done.

Chelsea, under the cosh and looking bereft of ideas, saw their afternoon go from bad to worse. Moises Caicedo—usually the Blues’ midfield anchor—had a moment to forget in the 68th minute. The tireless Jeremy Doku sniffed out a mistake, robbed Caicedo on the edge of the area, and lashed a fierce strike past the helpless Robert Sanchez.

Guardiola was seen embracing Cherki as he subbed the playmaker off late in the game, a fatherly nod to a performance that has surely cemented City as favorites to hunt down the Gunners.

For Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior, it was a sobering afternoon. Despite the return of Gianluigi Donnarumma in the City goal, the Italian barely had to break a sweat as Chelsea’s attack fizzled out under the pressure.

The result leaves City just six points behind Arsenal with a game in hand. With a seismic showdown against the Gunners looming at the Etihad on April 19, the momentum has shifted firmly to the North.

Chelsea are blue, but Manchester is firmly back in the hunt.

CHELSEA (0): Sanchez, Cucurella, Caicedo (Essugo 70), Santos, Pedro (Delap 70).

MAN CITY (3): Donnarumma, Khusanov, Guehi, O’Reilly, Cherki (Subbed 82), Doku.
