ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Amunike Community in Awka North Local Government was thrown into confusion and deep mourning on Thursday, January 28, 2021, when 65 years old hunter, Mr. Uchechukwu Nweke  went  berserk, set his home ablaze with his son inside, fired a shot at close range with his single barrel gun at his beloved wife that shattered her brain before burying the gun  into his ‘foramen magnum’ and  fired  another shot that sent hot lead into his skull.

His brain was completely shattered as he lied lifeless on one side of the compound, while the corpse of his lovely wife,  Patricia Nweke, 55,  laid   motionless on the opposite end, when our correspondent arrived the scene.

It was a complete dark day, a day never experienced in the history of Amunike.  Nweke had earlier on burnt his house along with his son , Obinna Nweke, who is  aged 29 years in a circumstances yet to be ascertained.

A source who simply identified himself   as chairman  of the vigilante told our reporter that early  morning of Thursday  about 3:am, the suspect shot his wife set the house along his 29 years old son and later killed himself.

Conforming the incident, Anambra State command police  spokeman, CSP Haruna Mohammed said the police on 28/1/2021 received a report from  Amunike community in Awka North LGA of Anambra State that , a hunter, one Uchechukwu Nweke ‘m’ aged 65 years  allegedly shot his wife Patricia Nweke ‘f’ aged 55 years with a single barrel gun and also burnt his house along with his son named Obinna Nweke aged 29 years in a circumstances yet to be ascertained.

He also stated that suspect equally shot himself using the same gun. Meanwhile, Mohammed said that the  police detectives attached to Achalla Police  Station had  visited the scene and took  corpses of the victims to Uche Hospital Isuanocha where all three victims were certified dead by a medical doctor on arrival.

According to him, corpses of the victims have been  deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, while investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
