June 6, 2015 – A socio-cultural organization, Sagabama/Ekeremor Development Foundation(SEDF) has endorsed Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Henry Seriake Dickson for a second term for transforming the state.

According to SEDF, Dickson has made them proud through infrastructural and manpower development; transparent leadership and uncommon stewardship.

The group, in an open letter to Governor Dickson, signed by its President, Engr. Charles Dorgu, said they were proud of the achievements of their kinsman, who has clearly left no one in doubt and that he has all it takes to lead Bayelsa State and indeed, the Ijaw nation to the promised land.

“It is an understatement to say our dear state suffered terribly from bad leadership and huge infrastructural setback since its creation over 18 years ago, until Governor Dickson was sent by God to salvage the people of the state from bad governance, especially from leaders whose stock in trade was supporting criminal elements and cultists to unleash violence and brigandage on the streets of Yenagoa and across the state.

“We resolutely restate our undying pledge and unshaken stand to drum support for our son, the ‘talk na do’ governor, His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, as a credible, God-fearing, fit and proper candidate to continue in the seat of Governor of Bayelsa State for a second term come February 14 2016.”

The group added that it was set to embark on a mission to pacify and mobilize the support of all sons and daughters of Sagbama and Ekeremor, particularly those, who feel aggrieved as a result of unfulfilled expectations in the last state and National Assembly elections.

“We are calling on all sons and daughters of Sagbama-Ekeremor, particularly the political class who felt aggrieved for losing out in the last elections, to retrace their steps back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the interest of peace. We want them to realize that Governor Dickson is one of us and he deserves our support.

“The reconciliation and contact committee of the group will be going round to meet all those who are aggrieved to reconcile them back to the fold. It is important that we all come together as one people to let the governor know that the train has left the station and there is no going back. We want him to know that he will return for a second term in office without hindrances, considering his achievement, antecedents and developmental goals.

“We therefore submit that all electorates, voters and stakeholders in Sagbama and Ekeremor should endeavour to co-operate with members of the reconciliation and contact committee made up of respected leaders and elders like Chief Thompson Okorotie, Chief Francis Doukpola, Fyneman Wilson and others, as they go round to reconcile our people to forge a common front against the opposition party in view of the task ahead.”

While thanking the governor for his stewardship and doggedness, Dorgu said that SEDF, under his leadership, is saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing massive support for his re-election bid through strategic engagements and cooperation with similar groups across the state, whose sole objective is premised on creating a favorable political environment for the re-emergence of the ‘countryman governor.’
