MAGPIES SWOOP LATE TO FLOOR TEN HAG’S MEN
By Our Man on the Toon
NEWCASTLE hero Harvey Barnes smashed home a sensational late double to condemn Manchester United to another Premier League nightmare at St James’ Park last night.
The new Magpies ace was an absolute menace, firing his side to a dramatic 2-1 win that had the Toon Army rocking!
It was a tight, tense affair until Barnes decided to tear up the script in a stunning seven-minute burst of second-half action.
The former Leicester flyer first put Eddie Howe’s lads ahead in the 63rd minute, sending the Gallowgate wild with a tidy finish.
But the party almost ended prematurely! Just five minutes later (68 mins), United’s £70m summer signing, Ruben Dias, popped up to tap home a scrappy equaliser.
The Red Devils thought they had salvaged a point, but they clearly didn’t factor in the magic man, Barnes!
In the 70th minute, the winger grabbed his second, cutting inside and unleashing an absolute screamer past the despairing United keeper. 2-1! Game over!
United boss Erik Ten Hag was left with his head in his hands on the touchline as his team crumbled once again under pressure.
The result piles the pressure on Ten Hag, with his stuttering side looking more like also-rans than title challengers.
As for the Toon, they march on, proving they are the real deal in the race for the European spots. What a night!
