IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Former Chief of Army Staff, Leut. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi today told a Lagos High Court, sitting in Ikeja, that his main witness, Mr. Martins who conveyed N10 million to Justice Augustine Ade-Alabi, who was then Chief Judge of Lagos State was not allowed to testify at the National Judicial Council(NJC) during the hearing on the matter before Justice Ade-Alabi was cleared by the NJC.

Bamaiyi made the declaration while he was being cross-examined by counsel to the defendant, Mr. Olalekan Ojo(SAN) in the matter involving Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi and notorious fraudster, Mr. Fred Ajudua in $8.4 million fraud.

He told the court that Mr. Martins was not allowed to testify the first day at the NJC and that the following adjournment that he was to testify, his lawyer was told he died in the night.

“My witnesses were not allowed to come in and give evidence. The main witness, Mr. Martins was not allowed to come in and give a witness and by the next adjourned that date when Mr Martins was to give evidence, we were told that he died in the night.

He died under the circumstances no body knew. Because his lawyer was with him but by the time he was in the court, he was told that Mr. Martins died in the night”, he said.

Details later.
