A former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose on Saturday emerged flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the primaries held in the state.

Fayose gathered a total of 462 votes out of 477 votes in the primaries which took place at the Great Eagle Event Centre, Ikere, Ekiti State. He won even as former minister of Police affairs, Mr. Caleb Olubolade, and 13 contestants boycotted the primaries. Fayose was declared winner by Chairman of the election, Mr. Peter Odili who also served as governor of Rivers State, when Fayose was governor of Ekiti State.

Elated Fayose called on all aggrieved parties to come and support the party so as to reclaim its lost glory in the state.

“The next step now is that, we have to start a reconciliation process. I am appealing to our brothers and sisters who maybe aggrieved in any way to please come on board and let us work together. Nobody nor governor alone can do it in isolation, even when you get to government, you cannot run it alone. There are so many things to share together and things we can do for them. Some will want to contest as senator, member of House of Representative and other benefits, this is not the end of the world for all of us.

“I want to assure all of them that I will work with them. I am a better person now 11 years after my first election. I was elected 2003, this is 2014, I should be given a chance, that chance to work with them.

“This is a different Ayo Fayose, more matured, more responsive and more responsible and I am ready to work with all of them. They should let us shield our sword and come together; one of us would be governor, one of us would be deputy, chief of staff, a lot can be commissioners and lots more to get through the state to be federal instrument.”

PDP Vice President, South-West, Chief Ishola Filani, said the party will win the state gubernatorial election gallantly, stating that the peaceful internal democracy in the party was proof that PDP is back to wipe away their tears.
