By Our Correspondent in Ozoro RIVERS UNITED’S title charge hit a massive Delta-sized speed bump yesterday as a spirited Warri Wolves side tore up the script with a clinical 2-0 victory. On a day where the heavyweights expected to assert their dominance, it was the “Sea Going Boys” who looked like the true kings of the jungle. The drama kicked off early in the 12th minute when the visitors’ defense blinked. A clumsy challenge in the box gave the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Up stepped Igbunu Evwierhurhoma—the man with ice in his veins. With the…
By Our Man in the North KATSINA, NIGERIA – Forget the London fog; it was the shimmering heat of Northern Nigeria that provided the backdrop for a tactical masterclass yesterday, as Katsina United ground out a vital 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in the NPFL. While the scoreline suggests a tight affair, the story of the match was written by the stars who refused to let the game descend into a stalemate. In a league where home turf is a fortress, it was the sheer individual brilliance of the Chanji Boys’ leading lights that made the difference. The Magic Moment…
BY OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT ILORIN, NIGERIA It was a Sunday stroll in the Ilorin sun for Kwara United as they dismantled a toothless El-Kanemi Warriors 3-0, proving once again that when the “Harmony Boys” find their rhythm, few in the NPFL can dance with them. The stars of the show were undoubtedly the Kwara forward line, led by the irrepressible Junior Aimufua, who operated like a master puppeteer. Aimufua didn’t just play the game; he dictated it, turning the Warriors’ defense into a disorganized mess from the opening whistle. The Early Strike The breakthrough came just 10 minutes in. Aimufua,…

In a script that even Hollywood would find a bit much, relegation-threatened Kun Khalifat marched into the Lion’s Den in Lafia and walked out with all three points, leaving Nasarawa United’s title dreams in tatters. The “Solid Miners” looked anything but solid as they huffed and puffed for 90 minutes, unable to find a way past a Kun Khalifat side…
