JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The African Union Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat is flying in today to Johannesburg from Addis Ababa, to pay his personal respect to Mandela family home in Orlando, Soweto.




In a statement issued by the AU Commission on 2 April, Faki Mahamat paid tribute to Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela as an African icon: “She was a fearless campaigner who sacrificed much of her life for freedom in South Africa.”

He went further to say that: “The entire African Union family joins the continent in grief.” He conveyed his condolences to the Mandela and Madikizela family and the South African nation.

African Union Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat, flies in from Addis Ababa today, and will visit the Mandela family home at 13:30 today.
