PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has continued to make impact in the lives of people in the Niger Delta region through medical interventions.

Far away in Brass Local Government Area in Bayelsa State, the commission working in partnership with Pearl Medical Support Services implemented cholera vaccination in 2019 in the local government.

This intervention, the NDDC explained targeted communities which are prone to flooding with poor access to portable drinking water to prevent residents from contracting the cholera pandemic.

Cholera can be very fatal. According to the United Nations Children Education Fund, UNICEF, cholera causes as many as 143,000 deaths globally every year.
