LAGOS, Nigeria – Reno Omokri, aide to former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has said that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was not extradited from the United Kingdom.
Omokri said a top UK Government source informed him that Kanu was almost definitely arrested in Kenya and that it was an illegal detention.
According to him, the United Kingdom is a civilized nation that is governed by the rule of law.
“No one, no matter how wanted can be arrested and extradited without extradition hearing before a court, especially when that person is a British citizen”, he said.
He explained that there are Nigerians currently fighting their extradition to Nigeria in UK courts. “They cannot leave the UK on their own volition on the request of the Nigerian government until their hearings are exhausted. If they lose at the court of first instance, they have a right of appeal”, he said.
