IKEJA, Lagos – A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja today remanded two men, Bala Mohammed and Segun Babatunde, all 19 years in Kirikiri Maximum Prison for alleged armed robbery. Mohammed, Babatunde and others at large were said to have armed themselves with knives, matchets, broken bottles, scissors and other dangerous weapon to rob one Badejo Iyabo of her properties, including laptop and phones valued at N204, 000 and other items.
The suspects who were arraigned on three count charge of armed robbery pleaded not guilty. According to the state prosecuting counsel, Mrs M. Osibogun the defendants committed the offence in October 15, 2016 at about 0330hrs at Akinlade Avenue Alhaja Ayobo contrary to sections 297(2) and 307(1) criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.
Narrating her order, the victim said: “I was in my room sleeping all of a sudden, I saw two armed robbers, they woke me up asked me never to make noise or they will hurt me” The suspects broke the burglary and came through my kitchen window. They were holding different kinds of weapons,” she said, adding that they threatened to kill her and requested for her phones, money and other valuables.
“When they were about to go I tried to hold one of them but he gave me a serious injury with knife which made me to bleed and I became weak. The Justice Adenike Coker remanded the defendants in prison and adjourned the case until June 13 for trial.
