APC Lawmakers Hold Secret Meeting in Akure as Plot to Impeach Fayose Thickens

October 25, 2014 – Lawmakers of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State have intensified their efforts to impeach Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

We gathered that some of the party leaders met again in a Hotel in Akure on Friday to strategise on how to frustrate Fayose through the Ekiti State House of Assembly and other activities.

According to sources, the APC lawmakers are determined to go ahead with their plan either to impeach Fayose or make the state ungovernable for him despite entreaties from well-meaning Nigerians.

In a statement, Secretary of Ekiti Movement for Good Governance (EMGG) Dr. Abiodun Aina, said Ekiti people will resist any attempt to prevent Fayose from governing the state in the next four years.

Aina said the APC lawmakers slept in the Hotel and left early Saturday morning adding that the lawmakers ran to Akure to hold the meeting because they knew that they were working against Ekiti people.

“A leader of the APC, who came from Lagos was said to have assured the lawmakers of enough fund to prosecute the agenda tagged; ‘Operation Blockade’,” he said.

He said that apart from using the House of Assembly to frustrate Fayose’s Government, part of the agenda of the Operation Blockade was to step up criminal activities like armed robbery and kidnapping in the state.

Meanwhile, more reactions have continue to trail the APC legislators’ impeachment plot as youths under the aegis of the National Youth Council threatened to resist any attempt to impeach the governor.

Chairman of the Youth Council, Comrade Adedamola Gbenga said youths of Ekiti will embark on a peaceful demonstration against the APC lawmakers on Monday.

In his reaction, a Peoples Democratic Party senatorial aspirant, Hon. Mrs Fatima Raji Rasaki warned the APC lawmakers to desist from any act capable of throwing the State into chaos.

She said the legislators should see themselves as Ekiti State legislators, not APC or Tinubu’s lawmakers.
Also, market women in Ekiti State under the aegis of Council of Iyalojas and Iyalajes have described anyone planning to frustrate Fayose’s Government as enemy of Ekiti State.

Speaking through the Iyaloja of Ekiti State , Chief (Mrs) Bisi Okunmolale, the market women said they were solidly behind the governor, noting that no right thinking Ekiti indigene should do anything against the popular wish of the people.
