UNITED STATES – The long standing children programme, Sesame Street is recruiting talented Nigerian artiste for new episodes of the programme slated for May, 2017.
The category of artistes are young Nigerian-American.
According to Carolyn Volpe who is in charge of Child Talent for Sesame Street, the kids should be able to act, sing and represent their culture.
The programme will be adapted for a movie in 2018.
Sesame Street was first aired in 1969 and it was the favourite show for children, based on creatures, large birds and its educational value. It’s also full of colours.
According to New York Times income from the co-productions and international licensing accounted for $96 million.
Cast, crew and characters includes Jim Henson creator of the Muppets, in 1989. Others are Caroll Spinney and Oscar the Grouch.
Shortly after the CTW was created in 1968, Joan Ganz Cooney was named its first executive director.
She was one of the first female executives in American television. Her appointment was called “one of the most important television developments of the decade”.
