AWKA, Anambra – The Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State (ANIAS), alongside its Elders’ Executive Council, has formally congratulated Governor Prof. Charles Soludo for his outstanding commitment to inclusive governance.
They particularly praised his efforts to integrate non-indigenes into the political, economic, and social affairs of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Prince Chigozie Nweke, President of ANIAS, the group applauded Governor Soludo for his progressive policies, highlighting that his administration’s inclusivity is a model for the entire nation.
Prince Nweke specifically commended the governor’s promise to allocate land to non-indigenes for cattle market and related businesses, noting this as a significant development that supports the livelihoods of many non-indigenes engaged in livestock trading, butchery, and related commerce.
Prince Nweke said that Governor Soludo’s administration has extended opportunities to citizens from all 36 states of the Nigerian federation, affording them not only the freedom to live peacefully in Anambra but also enabling them to actively participate in the state’s socio-economic and political spheres with rights comparable to those of indigenes.
“We especially commend Your Excellency for the unprecedented inclusivity within the civil service. Under your leadership, non-indigenes have been appointed to high-ranking positions including Accountant General, Permanent Secretaries, and other top-tier roles within the government’s career civil service. This bold and progressive stance reflects a governance style rooted in equity and meritocracy.
“Governor Soludo’s openness and fairness, as reflected in his policies, send a strong message that Anambra is truly a home for all law-abiding citizens, irrespective of their state of origin. “You are a genuine pan-Nigerian leader,a shining example of the unity and national integration that Nigeria urgently needs,” Prince Nweke added.
He also highlighted the success of the governor’s “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative, which has been implemented without discrimination.
According to him, many non-indigenes have benefited from this programme, gaining valuable skills and opportunities for self-reliance.
“Furthermore, the recruitment of a significant number of non-indigenes into the state civil service stands as a testament to Governor Soludo’s unwavering commitment to fairness, equity, and national integration” he said.
In gratitude for these inclusivity measures, ANIAS has resolved to mobilize its members in Anambra’s communities to support Governor Soludo’s re-election bid.
“We have been actively educating our people on the need for continuity and good governance, as exemplified by the current administration. Encouraged by your performance, many non-indigenes have registered to vote in Anambra November 8 election and are fully prepared to support your return to office,”
“Your Excellency, the best form of appreciation is not just in words but in action. For us, that action is to ensure your return so you can complete your constitutionally guaranteed eight years in office. Your leadership has been so impactful that even the blind can feel it. The non-indigenes in Anambra stand firmly with you and are committed to voting massively for your re-election.”he stated.
However, Prince Nweke expressed concern over attempts by certain state government officials to destabilize non-indigenes by supporting impostors who falsely claim to represent the non-indigene in the state .
“Some government officials have been fronting disgruntled elements, parading them as the legitimate leadership of non-indigenes in the state. This undermines the governor’s vision of unity and does not reflect the genuine inclusivity that non-indigenes have experienced,” he said.
He clarified that ANIAS is a duly registered body with the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and holds an official certificate of registration and recognition .
Nweke said, unfortunately, some government officials have used impersonators during endorsement rally on Tuesday, which ANIAS does not recognize.
“We are not ungrateful. We deeply appreciate all the positive developments you have brought that foster peace and unity between non-indigenes and their host communities. We are organizing our own official endorsement, representing registered members from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. We will communicate the details to you appropriately in due course,” Prince Nweke stated.
