AWKA, Anambra – The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, treated children from various communities and orphanage homes across the state to a fun-filled excursion at the newly built Solution Funcity, the Government House, and the Governor’s Lodge, all located in Awka.
During the tour of these facilities, the Governor’s wife interacted warmly with the children and hosted them to a delightful outing.
She personally conducted the children around the different attractions, played with them, and shared inspiring stories, particularly with the children from community homes.
One of the children, Chinwendu Madueke, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the First Lady for spending such quality time with them, noting that she had genuinely demonstrated motherly love and care.
According to him, the experience would leave an indelible memory of joy and happiness in their hearts.
“Since I came of age, this is the most joyous experience for me, and I am happy I shared it with Her Excellency. I will always remember this day because it is like motherly care,” he said.
Another child, little Benita, from an orphanage home in a community in Awka, also expressed her appreciation to the First Lady, saying she had so much fun and looked forward to telling her classmates all about it when school resumes next week.
Speaking on the motivation behind the gesture, Mrs. Soludo stated that the children from orphanage homes are also Anambra children and deserve the same enjoyment and leisure as their peers who live with their parents.
She expressed satisfaction that the children had a wonderful time and promised to bring them back to enjoy all the facilities once Funcity becomes fully operational.
“Today, I brought my children from orphanage homes to see what is happening in their state. Because of their circumstances, they do not often have such opportunities.
“These are also children of Anambra, and they deserve leisure and fun too. My greatest joy is that they are happy.
“All we are doing as a government is in the best interest of the children.
“I cannot wait for the place to be officially opened so I can bring them back to enjoy all the facilities,” she said.
Addressing critics of the government’s investment in constructing Funcity, the Anambra State First Lady explained that Governor Chukwuma Soludo had, from the onset, envisioned a state where people could live, work, and enjoy.
She noted that some of the facilities within Funcity are typically only found in distant locations and expressed confidence that once fully operational, the facility would attract fun seekers and holidaymakers to Anambra, thereby boosting the local economy.
“We want to make Anambra a destination, not a departure lounge. With this facility, you will see people wanting to bring their children to Anambra for leisure.
“Do you know that people travel out of Nigeria just to enjoy facilities like this and have fun with their children and families?
“Now that we have something like this in Anambra, it is a major plus for us,” Mrs. Soludo stated.
