NORTH CAROLINA, U.S. – Great American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Charles Edward Daniels, better known as Charlie Daniels is dead. He is 83.
Former Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee who announced the development said he is heart broken. He described Charlie Daniels as legendary superstar, a wonderful entertainer and Christian gentleman.
“Just learned legendary superstar Charlie Daniels, 83, has died. @CharlieDaniels was the greatest. A wonderful entertainer, Christian gentleman, servant to our veterans like no other, & humble, kind man despite being multi-talented, successful, and hard working. #heartbroken”, he tweeted.
Born 28 October 1936 in Wilmington, North Carolina, United States, Charlie Daniels is known for his contributions to Southern rock, country, and bluegrass music.
He is best known for his number-one country hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia”.
He has been active as a singer and musician since the 1950s. His albums include Simple Man, Fire on the Mountain .
