Ambode Picks Habib Aruna as Chief Press Secretary

May 20, 2015 – Lagos State Governor-elect, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has picked former News Editor of Daily Independent Newspapers as his Chief Press Secretary.

Although this is not official, our correspondent gathered that officials of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have sealed his appointment as CPS.

According to sources, APC big wigs will announce his appointment as well as that of Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) either today or before the week runs out.

We gathered that former Special Assistant to Fashola on Public Affairs, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku who speculated to be the next CPS will in due course be named as Special Adviser on Information, while former Editor of Punch and National Mirror, Mr. Steve Ayorinde will be named Commissioner for Information.

Habib Aruna has put in more than a decade in journalism. He was Group Political Editor, Daily Independent Newspapers, Group News Editor in the same newspaper before he left the organisation in 2014.

We gathered that his closeness to the image maker of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed could have  worked in his favour.
