February 9, 2015 – Two major gladiators, Governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Jimi Agbaje and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwumi Amobode have signed a pact to maintain peace, before, during and after the 2015 general elections.

The peace pact was signed by the two candidates in the presence of US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle.

Speaking at the event, Ambode said they have agreed to urge their supporters to remain calm while Agbaje said they signed the pact to prevent violence before, during and after the election.

Supporters of the two groups have in recent times embarked on violence tearing down posters and in some cases damaging billboards.
Both candidates have also lost their lives the series of fracas.
