May 7, 2015 – Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu who is just recovering from the controversy he raised in the pre-April 11 governorship election over his comments on Igbo in Lagos has vowed to expose sycophants who were against the election of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari  but who  are now around, telling him all sort of things.

Akiolu who spoke at the occasion to mark 2, 900 days of the Babatunde Fashola administration said he is not afraid of anybody and will not hesitate to do the needful when the time comes.

“A lot of things have been happening now. Some people have been telling Buhari all sorts of things. Awujale and I have decided to meet Buhari because Lagos and South West states must benefit from the Buhari administration.

“People, who are now telling Buhari all sorts of things, are sycophants. They did not want Buhari to emerge winner in the election. These people know themselves. When it gets to a stage, I will name them one after the other. I am not afraid of human beings”, he said.

He also warned Lagos State Governor-elect, Akinwunmi Ambode not to resume with a vengeful heart even those many, even some among his blood relations were against his bid to be the governor of Lagos State.

“I am happy today, Tunde, the Lord will continue to be with you. Ambode will soon take over from Fashola. We should earnestly pray for him. I have told him not to revenge. I told him not to resume office with vengeful heart. He should forget the past and move on.

“Among the people here, there are people, who never wanted Ambode to emerge the Governor of Lagos. Most of you are sycophants. Some of them are blood relations.

“But I told them Ambode was my candidate. All Lagos residents should pray the labour of Tinubu should not be in vain.

The royal father also spoke about  the era when there was conflict between former Govenor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Fashola and what he did to settle them.

“On the day Asiwaju Bola Tinubu handed over power, the Chief Imam of Lagos prayed for him. He prayed that God would not take way his honour and respect. He prayed that Tinubu will never suffer. He said Fashola, who took over from him, would not mislead the people of Lagos. We are happy today, Fashola, his commissioners and his entire household made us proud in Lagos. They performed excellently.

“Let me tell you. I am not a partisan politician, but I am a politician of Iga Iduganran. I am not afraid of any person or anything. I can only fear God. I am neither afraid of death, but I am not going to die now. When there was a controversy between Tinubu and Fashola, all the elders and monarchs throughout the federation called me to intervene. They said I served in the Nigeria Police for 32 years and could not settle conflict between my two sons.

“In your party, there are people, who are agents of conflict. Such agents would go to my elder son and advise him against making peace with my younger son. The same people would go my younger son and instigate him against my elderly son. But God will never be put to shame. So, I called the two of them separately. I told them they have to listen to me and that if they refused, I will hands off.

“But to God be the glory, they listened to me. One of the elders in the party called me aside and advised me to leave him alone. I should let them snatch the party away from him, since that was exactly what he did to Ganiyu Daudu and Jakande. I told him that was not good. I told him God did not like that kind of approach”, he said.
