September 8, 2014 – Former Accountant General of Lagos, Akin Ambode has formally opened his campaign office in Gbagada, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria. This is the first time that Ambode is making a public display of his ambition to rule Lagos State.

As expected thousands of members of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) were at the office to give him the needed support. Speaking at the occasion, Ambode expressed gratitude to all who supported his ambition and charged his supporters not to fight during the primaries to ensure that he emerges as candidate of the party.

He also set up a committee to carry his message across to the people at the grassroots, saying that he would bring about a Lagos that everyone would be proud of adding that he would build a new level of leadership that would eradicate poverty in Lagos State.

Speaking at the event, member House of Representative, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke said he has the right to support whoever he wished despite the fact that many aspirants were vying to get the nod of the APC to fly the party’s banner in next year’s polls.

“So many aspirants are running but you decided to come here, I am not forced, I have followed the good work of Ambode at the grassroots level.

“He is a team player, he is a man whose yes is yes. He does not believe in punishing others because one makes mistake but corrects you. He humbled himself and God will humble him, he will become governor in Lagos State.

“I will deliver Ikeja, Ojodu and Onigbongbo for him and he owes me good governance. It will be a government of continuity. Those employing campaign of calumny should desist from such,” he said and urged the supporters not to fight during the primaries.

Former Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos on Political Matters, Abdullateef Abdulhakeem promised to deliver votes of the entire Muslim community in Lagos for Ambode, adding that Ambode is the right man for the job.

“I will deliver the Lagos Muslims vote to him. Ambode is a divine intervention; we have been accused by the enemies because of reduction in LASU fees. Ambode is a testimony,” he said.
