December 5, 2014 – There are feelers that aggrieved candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who lost out in the primaries held on Thursday may congratulate Akinwunmi Ambode who won the primaries following the hide and seek game adopted by the candidates.
For the second time in less than twenty four hours the aggrieved candidates who have been threatening to go to court postponed the media briefing called to express their grievances against the just concluded party’s primary election.
Our Correspondent recalled that some of the aggrieved Aspirants stormed out of Onikan stadium venue of the primary election yesterday to first register their protest.
However, they called off the first media briefing at the last minute last night with the hope of holding it today.
To the surprise of many journalists who had arrived Maryland venue of today’s proposed briefing, one of the aides to Tokunbo Wahab said that the briefing had again been called off without any reason.
Our correspondent however gathered that the aggrieved APC gubernatorial aspirants may have been prevailed upon by former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow good reasons to prevail.
The Chairman of the Election committee, Peter Dada had disclosed at the venue of the primary that aggrieved aspirants could take advantage of the appeal committee to lay their complaints.
Present at the proposed media briefing include, Former Commissioner for Rural Development, Dr. Tola Kasali, Tokunbo Wahab, Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Senator Ganiu Solomon, Commissioner for Works Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and Tokunbo Agbesanwa.
Akinwunmi Ambode emerged winner in the APC gubernatorial primary election with over sixty percent polling 3,735 votes while Hamzat came second with 1,201 votes.
