ABUJA, Nigeria – Governor Seminalaye Fubara of Rivers State is in the news once more and this time for a good reason.
On Thursday night, President Bola Tinubu hosted a reconciliation meeting between the warring factions, the suspended Governor Fubara and his erstwhile godfather and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.
But it was a closed door meeting during which the President also integrated the Martins Ahamaewhule led lawmakers loyal to Wike and the other members loyal to Fubara.
It was not clear what transpired but the parties came out, shook hands and appear to be happy with themselves.
The meeting according to sources was summoned ahead of expected termination of ongoing emergency rule in Rivers State.
The President declared State of emergency in Rivers State on March 18, 2025 and appointed
Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ibas as Administrator.
The reconciliation came 24 hours after the Senate approved the 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill totaling ₦1.485 trillion, following a request submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
