July 20, 2014 – Scores of civilians were feared killed on Sunday when members of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram invaded Damboa in Borno State and set alight several buildings before hoisting their flags in the village.

Sources say members of the sect stormed the village when residents were making arrangement to bury those killed in previous attacks and opened fire on the mourners killing many of them.

Eyewitnesses told the BBC that half of Damboa had been burnt down, including the town’s main market.

At least 18 bodies so far have been recovered from the attack, which lasted for several hours. The death toll is expected to rise, residents say.
We gathered that most of the residents have fled the village into neighbouring Cameroun.
