Accord sacks Vice Chairman Igbokwe for anti-party
ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – National Vice Chairman of Accord political party Chief Innocent Dike Igbokwe has been expelled by his Ogidi Ward one in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra.
A statement signed by Ezeonyima Enechikechukwu, chairman, Ogidi Ward one and 20 other executives noted that Igbokwe was expelled for sundry anti-party misconducts. The statement made available to Journalists in Awka also said that Igbokwe breached the Constitution of Accord by refusing to constitute the South-East Zonal executives of the party.
They claimed that Igbokwe was sabotaging the effort of the Anambra state executives by having a seamless activities with respect to the forthcoming November 6 governorship election.
The equally accused Igbokwe of leading his personal friends to Dr Godwin Maduka, the governorship candidate of the party in Anambra in order to extort money from him.
The statement noted that members of Ogidi Ward one after due consideration to misconducts set up a seven-man committee to look into the alleged misconducts by Igbokwe.
The statement reads in part:
“The committee having sent invitation letter to Chief Innocent Dike Igbokwe and the invitation ignored, sat and deliberated on the matter. Thereafter, the committee agreed that Igbokwe by his actions and utterances breached articles 20(A), (i to viii) of the party’s constitution and thereby recommended for his expulsion”, the statement added.
“The executives of the ward however noted that their action was subject to ratification by the national Executive Committee of the party. When contacted, chief Bartho Igwedibia, the state chairman of Accord said he was aware of the development.
“When Journalists visited his Ogidi country home after efforts to reach him via phone provided abortive, the person met simply said that Chief Igbokwe was not around.
“Since you people are Journalists and what you are looking him bothers on politics, you know where to meet him”, the man said in an unfriendly manner and left”.
